NAIDOC Day – William Bayldon Public School

Last week, Stage 3 students attended the Bongil Bongil Community of Schools (BBCoS) NAIDOC Day at William Bayldon Public School.

The event was a celebration of BecauseĀ Of Her We Can. Students participated in a traditional smoking ceremony, learnt Aboriginal dancing from talented students from Orara High School, ate kangaroo and learnt all about bush tucker from Uncle Mark. The students played Indigenous games and dot painted on clapping sticks.

Gumbaynggirr language was spoken throughout the day and some students were lucky enough to hear an amazing local didgeridoo player. Every group had Stage 3 students from all the BBCoS, and the Sawtell students made new friends that they will go to high school with in 2019 and 2020.
